I used this title because it really is a special time together. I'm a mother of 3 boys who are in there 20's and really have no interest in baking with me, but love to eat whatever I do bake. But there is a special girl in my life, my neice and Godchild who I adore. She is 8 years old and loves to bake. Her favorite is cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. We have lots of fun baking together, and she always calls it our special time together, and whenever she sees or eats cupcakes or chocolate chip cookies, she said she always thinks about our special baking time and it puts a smile on her face. It's all worth it when you hear something like that, I hope this is a memory that she will cherish for the rest of her life, as I do.

Thanks
JC

That is wonderful!  The boys missed some great times as well as kitchen skills.

Great memories Janice.   The boys don't realize what they've missed out on.  But you never know, they might just be like my son.  He never helped to cook at home.  Then when  he was living on his own he got tired of ramen noodles and decided to learn how to cook.  He's asked me for recipes over the years and now he's a great cook.

I had a very special Aunt who only had boys.  She was actually my Great Aunt.  Without her I would not have my love for baking or cooking.  You are doing a wonderful thing!  I am sure she will cherish the memories that you are making.  My Aunt has been gone five years and I often wish I could call her and tell her of the new and fun flavors that I find as I experiment with different receipes!  God bless you!

I am sure when she gets older she will look back at your time together, if not at this time.

It certainly is a special time and she will have you to thank for teaching her to bake.

What a great story and memory to have.  It's not what you do with someone but that you do someting  together to share with another.

Great story.  Sometimes, boys wake up and realize that it is not just Moms or Grandmas who bake, and that's where our great chefs and our delicious bakeries come from!

That is so true. My oldest son, now 23, has just asked me to make him a "cookbook" of all our family favorites. It made me smile when I read what you said about your son becoming a great cook.  I think there's hope for mine yet:) Thank you!
