My girlfriend Kat and I headed off for high school during the only blizzard in our small mid-west town that cancelled school my entire life. We sat there in the parking lot watching kids leaving their cars and dashing into the school. The radio announcer infomed us school had been cancelled. If you were already there, you were to stay there the entire day. If not, stay home, and stay safe. Well I started up my little car and headed home. It took a total of 20 minutes to make the 7 minute drive back down the hill to home where Kat and I found my mother preparing to bake some chocolate chip cookies. She was surprised to see us back and a bit excited to have the company. She called Kat's mom and let her know that school had been cancelled and got her permission to entertain her for the day. We hed a blast with my mom. We baked cookies, gossipped, and thouroughly enjoyed each others company. What a glorious day we had. We even shared coffee! She made us feel a little more grown up than what we were. What a great Snow Day! Thanks mom, you're the greatest!
