What a beautiful story. You met each hurdle and went over them as they happened. It seems as though everyone who was involved in this came out a winner. Way to go! ~ Libby H.

What a wonderful story. God bless you and your acquired family. I hope that James will see his dream fulfilled. How lucky he is to have a mom like you!

From one stepmom to another... You are so awesome!! This is the sweetest story I've read here and you really made my heart smile this morning. It's amazing how those stepsons can sneak in and steal your heart away isn't it?!?! Your right, there are no words to describe the happiness they can bring you.

Im a new wife, a new mother, and a new step mom as well. I was only 25 when I found myself with 3 teenage stepsons. Growing up my mother had cooked every night. I found out that they had grown up on fast food, boxed meals and thier father's cooking. It made me sad. At first I have to say my home cooked meals weren't popular. But as the children and I got to know eachother and as my cooking matured they craved it. My stepson James asked me why homemade tasted so good. I told him it was because love is the main ingredient. The smile we shared will forever be inprinted in my mine. After awhile when ever I was in the kitchen I had "little" visiters sniffing around. One time my stepson Joshua, who is a very serious young man, took a finger full of some icing I was making and ran into his room laughing. It is so hard to enter and already established family. I found that cooking has been and icebreaker of sorts. James, who is terminally ill, never spoke of things he could do for a career. Little by little he has wormed his way by my side in the kitchen and proclaimed he is going to be a chef! To see him think of a future fills my heart with such joy. And to think that one of my passions became his is such a blessing. I cannot tell you the happiness I have come to known. There are not words to describe.

As a step-mom myself, I know how cooking can make things easier. Parent and child each can teach and learn and build trust. Excellent memory and my best wishes to James and the rest of your family.

Wow! You sound like a terrific stepmom! That's quite a challenge for your young age...taking on three teenage stepsons. But it sure sounds like you won their hearts with both your unselfish love and your great cooking! What a precious memory you have shared! I wish you all the very best!
