When I was 12, my mom & I created a pumpkin shaped cake for the Halloween fair at school. It was for a cake sale and I got to help. She made two bundt cakes and put the 2nd one upside down on the first. Covering the cake was easy once the frosting was dyed orange. Mom didn't think thru the process, though, as the stem was a different story. I remember her filling the hole in the cake with TONS of frosting...once it finally came to the top, a little green dye and lots more frosting made a complete pumpkin. Together, we got the lines and face drawn on the cake and it was a top seller! That was over 25 years ago and she still talks about that cake.

I'm sure there is a better way to cover the hole fr the stem but I bet it was a ball for you to have worked on an appreciated cake at the sale.
Belated congrats

if you ever want to make another one use a plastic cup in the hole, the ones they use for condiments work best ,that is what my wife did
