My parents grew the biggest blueberry bushes I've ever seen---5 to 6 ft tall after their retirement. Every summer for years they would bake dozens of blueberry pies for family and their many friends.

My parents grew the biggest blueberry bushes I've ever seen---5 to 6 ft tall after their retirement. Every summer for years they would bake dozens of blueberry pies for family and their many friends. And what a production it was. Tables and counters lined up with pie shells. Hard work for them, yes, but they so loved and enjoyed giving all those pies away. It warms my heart to remember them getting such pleasure from their baking days. I so wish I could see them doing this one more time.

Great memory. Sounds like they should have openned a shop or at least have a roadside table

OMG I love blueberries. I used to live near a blueberry farm and as kids we used to sneak through their fence, sit and eat until we were blue. My mother would go buy blueberries from their stand and make us pies, muffins and all things blueberry. What a great memory. I miss my mother too.

When we lived in Maine I can remember getting blueberries and making pies and muffins. I also froze enough to make blueberry pies and muffins for a whole year until next time we harvested them. We had six children and a large freezer, so we froze ALOT of berries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries and raspberries. I also made jam, jelly and sauces out of the berries.
