I remembered that in JR. high school cooking class we had made whoopie pies. I loved those and have made them several times over the years.
On my visit back east this year, I asked my eleven year old twin grandsons if they'd like to help me make some. They asked what is whoopie pies, they got excited after I explained. The wanted to make them.
I now have pictures of my grandsons making whoopie pies, from shifting and mixing ingrediants, all the way to the finnished product and them sampleing the rewards of their efforts. Their moms kitchen is a nice big kitchen, they used the stand mixer with care. Followed the recipe directions carefully. I enjoyed their enthusiasim and the sense of accoplishment they felt. They might even make some for their classes when school starts up again.
There's no greater feeling to this grannie than baking a special treat with her grandsons. I enjoyed the day very much and will cherish it all the days of my life. I'm happy that I have the pictures and look forward to my next visit back east with my grandsons.
