I read the lady's story titled "Grandma's Bread and it brought back memories of my Grandma who has been gone for many years. I myself am a new grandma of a 3 week old grandson. I remember grandma would cook Sunday dinner for her entire family. I remember helping her on Saturday catch a chicken, while she would kill it and prepare it for Chicken and Dumplings, her canned green beans from her garden, mashed potatoes, home made rolls from scratch and one of her delicious pies or cakes. All of her meal was prepared on a wood burning cook stove and kept warm while we went to church and came back to her wonderful, delicious meal.

I can also remember helping my grandmother bake her cobblers. My favorite was her peach cobbler, it had double crust and served with cream when it was still warm from the oven. My mother and her also made fig perserves made with figes from my grandfather's fig tree. Those were wonderful times sitting around the kitchen table and just talking.
