Just remember going to grandma's every summer and as soon as I got there we started baking "treats" - brownies and cookies. I just couldn't wait to get there she could make anything!

I only had one grandma growing up, she was such a funny lady! She didn't do much cooking, she spent her time knitting. Your grandma sounds very special!

My Grandma was the strongest woman I have ever known.  If I can be half as strong as she was I will be a lucky woman.
She fought and over came one cancer.
Then has a re occurrence of the cancer.
My Mom is diagnosed with cancer, and my Grandma moves in with us to help out.
Lost her daughter, my Mom, to cancer then  10 days after my Mom died my aunt died.
My Grandmother despite surgery that removes half of her jaw and a portion of her tounge teaches herself to speak well enough to be understood when she answers the phone.  Still helping to care for us as we help care for her.
I learned the true meaning of  giving by having her in my life.
I should say that my Dad was a true hero in this as well, helping my Grandma out all  while trying to fight his cancer.
Don't mean this to be a "downer" it is just that my Grandma was exceptionally strong, got some of my love of cooking and baking from her.  But here again I remind everyone to write down and keep safe all treasured family recipes.  I have very few from my childhood.

Nikki,  I haven't been on these forums for very long and one of the reasons
I stay on this site is your tips and upbeat attitude. You are an inspiration to
me  and everyone else. I didn't start posting until this site was updated.  I

I miss my Granny.  She was a sweet lady.  She was in poor health her final years, but she always kept a good attitude.

Nancy and Carol, thank you for the kind words.  Carol, like you I never posted on this site until "The Change" and I am glad I started.  I have "met" so many great people.
I believe that you get out of life what you put into it.  If you walk around thinking it is going to be a lousy day guess what, you WILL have a lousy day.  On the other hand if you smile and have a kind word for people not only will you feel better you just may turn someone else's day around.  The best thing about it is if you really were having a bad day just smiling and saying kind words you actually begin to feel better yourself.

You never know who or how many people you touch in a day or a lifetime but everyone you come in contact with comes away with a "piece" of you, a bit of kindness, a bit of knowledge, a smile.  And you come away with a bit of them.  So we better make it a "nice" bit.

My grandmom was the best baker and she made the best pies because she had her owned barkery.
