I went to school for baking and I was helping my sister and my neice make some cupcakes for our brother's new bride for her bridal shower. We decided to go with boxed cake for cost and time restraints and I was so impressed when my 5 year old neice started naming off the ingredients we needed and how much without even looking at the box! My sister and I knew we could be looking at the next future pastry chef! I had so much fun baking with her, I'll always remember that time together.

Kids are like little sponges, they learn quickly! Your niece sounds very smart!
Thanks for sharing your story.

Little kids can memorize things so fast!  Did you ever see a little one that really wasn't reading yet, "read" a book they had heard just a couple times?  Kids are amazing.

What a great cook she will be!  She already knows basic things.  Plus she has obviously had some prior experience in the kitchen.

Good for her.  There are giant cupcake pans available now by Wilton.  One area is for the bottom of the cupcake and the other area is for the top of the cupcake.

How wonderful.  She will do well in the kitchen and as a chef, if she so desires!

I am surprised that at age 5 she is so interested in being in the kitchen...definitely a pastry chef in the making!
