My dad born in 1908 was not allowed to leave home until he could cook and bake. My first birthday cakes were made by my dad. He would make all types yummy candy. But what EVERYONE (including someone who turned out to be a future cousin=in=law) remembered were his cinnamon rolls. They were delicious - only better were his mom's. He made them all the time and unknown until just recently he was also taking them to families he worked with. Lyn who is now my cousin in law said they loved them. So we were not the only ones being spoiled. In terms of baking and cooking my dad was ahead of his times. My dad is very much missed!

What a NICE story.
When my mom was going to be somewhere at lunch time she had to prepare a full, ready-to-eat mea lfor dad .... put it in the 'fridge with a note taped to the dining table telling him where it was and how he could unwrap it.  A fork and knife were ready to go on the table and  a glass of ice in the freezer ready for iced tea.

LOL! Nancy, my Dad would have starved to death if he had waited for that much service from my Mom.  Yes, she would fix dinner.  But never all that prep if she was out.  He would have to fend for himself.  But, my Dad is a great cook himself.  I think he liked cooking a lot more than my Mom did.  Both of my brothers can cook very well too.  It must be because we love to eat.
