We have hosted numerous exchange students over the past four years and our current one will be with us for the next two years. Her family isn't close because she has always been shipped off for school in the United States and none of her host families have really stepped up as "family". I have always enjoyed baking and cooking with my kids so naturally, I've always asked her to join us. Recently, I was baking a cake from scratch and she decided to join us. She was amazed that you can make cakes from scratch. It was fun watching her lick the beaters. We had so much fun, we baked a second cake to take to my sister's family. Now she helps in the kitchen all the time and is always wanting to bake something. Now if we can just refrain from eating it we'll be good to go.

What a special act of kindness that is. She is one lucky girl!
