The smells of fall

Fall brings back so many baking memories. One in particular is using apples to make all kinds of fall edibles. There is nothing like apples in the fall and the smell of applesauce cake in the oven. In the fall my father would bring us bushels of apples that had fallen off the trees and were slightly bruised. With these apples my mother would make apple pie, homemade applesauce and biscuits, apple sauce cookies....(soft and chewy) apple sauce cake and bread. The fall brings these delectable smells and baking experiences to my mind.

My favorite time of year, too. . . my grandmother also made wonderful apple butter and quince-apple jelly . . . .yum!

I am so ready for Fall. It was a miserably hot Summer for most of the time. I love the cooler temps and the smell of baked goods in the house.

Fall is my favorite season, especially this year after the long hot summer. I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures amd less humidity.

Some of the smells of Fall that I remember weren't about food, although apples and pumpkin come to mind. The smells that I remember were of newly waxed furniture, fresh curtains and a total housecleaning before the cold weather set it. Miss you Mom.

The cooler crisp air does have a different scent to it.
I think of apples, spices pumpkin when thinking of fall.

Angela what a lovely memory. The scents in our memory are sometimes so much more vivid than a visual memory and the scent memory can come so suddenly that it can take you by surprise. I would guess spring brings the same memory for you as well.

I always remember how it got cool and you could smell the freshness in the air. Not like summer where it is hot and sometimes humid. But the fall brings a fresh crispness into the air.

Fall is my favorite season,I wish it could be spring and fall all year round.We have fires on my street all the time.It's so nice to share coffee and fresh baked goods with all my friends.I'm looking forward to Halloween,our 17th annual Chili party! We all get together and enjoy chili and pass our treats out together.The kids get so excited when they see all they get for stopping by.This is just a suggestion,I pass out hot cocoa packs and the kids just love that,it's nice to go home and warm up with a nice cup of hot cocoa.

Some love the smell of burning leaves but some of us suffer with allergies and asthma. The smoke can trigger a reaction that takes days to recover. Close windows, be sure filters are running.

I'll stick to apple butter and pumpkin pies.

I look forward to apple cider in the fall. Either icy cold on one of those really warm days or served hot with spices when there is a chill in the air. Cider seems so much yummier than bottled apple juice.
Some of our local orchards make excellent cider. Is it ready yet?

I really like Fall. I like to make jelly and canning is a lot nicer when
the weather is cooler.I love to go to football games and Volleyball
games that my grandchilden are playing in.
