HOW DO YOU SHOP?

Do you shop every day, once a day, every few weeks? I like to use my coupons and purchase items with them when they are on sale. I like to do big shopping and stock up. Before I went into the hospital for my knee surgery I stocked up in October. I had the chest freezer downstairs filled to the top and the same thing with the freezer in my fridge. The cupboards were also filled. During the time I was in the hospital and rehab my sons and husband ate. Since I've been home, we still have plenty to eat and my husband says we have enough food until Easter. The only thing my son has had to purchase for us is milk; other than what they purchased for Christmas dinner.

i shop once a week and i use coupons but the only store is walmart . half the time they don't have the product i want with the coupon i would have to travel 45 mts to super fresh and that s a waste of gas.

I hit my local WalMart Super Center maybe 6 times a week (sometimes that's 8) - lol -- And the local independent grocery 1 or 2 times.
I'm so fortunate to live nearby.

That is a lot of visits to Walmart. Everyday after school on the way home.Supper.I use coupons as well, fellow teachers talked me into using them.We even trade at school.

I try to shop weekly and take advantage of the sales and usually the coupon items are on sale or will be soon.I spend every Sunday afternoon clipping coupons and searching on the internet.I always wait until Wednesday to do my shopping that way I can get a look at the next weeks sale and see if I can hold off on an item going on sale.Then I shop wednesday and Thursday.Two stores Giant Eagle and Marc's,Marc's has the freshest produce I have ever seen and it is much cheaper than the grocery store,as is other items.I do know my prices and purchase items where ever they are cheaper.

I make a list of meals that I want to make for the week, and shop for only those ingredients. I then primarily shop the outside edge of the store, because that is where the healthy foods are, and it keeps me away from the snacks and soda. That way I use up all the food in my kitchen with minimal waste.

I shop Walmart three to four times a week and independent stores for sales, also. I find Walmart is cheaper than the independent stores, most of the time. I know my prices.

I believe all ground beef is really going to take a hike in price. So buy now and freeze.

I shop usually once a week, and my husband comes with me. He likes to shop as he says he gets the food he likes. I usually shop at our local Safeway. They have a "club card" which offers lots of specials, and recently if you register your card with them online they offer specials on things that you usually buy. I get e-mails from them telling about the "personalized specials" and I can click on items i want to buy and they are loaded on my card. When I check out I get the lower price. It is a new program, and it seems to be working pretty well. There are some things that I cannot get at Safeway, and then I head over to a more upscale grocery store called "Lunardi's". I usually can find most things there that I can't get at Safeway. I have also found that our Target, which has just installed a full service grocery store, has some items that are not usually available. There are two Walmarts in our area , but we live in the middle of their locations, so it is a waste of time and gas to go to either one.

I forgot to mention that we go to Costco about 2 times a month, and stock up on the things we can get there. One needs plently of storage space to shop at Costco!!

I shop once a week, I know most of the prices & match coupons with the sales. I am lucky that the 2 grocery stores are less than 3 miles away & I can walk to Walgreens. I get the grocery $ once a month so some weeks I might spend more but once in a blue moon I have a little left over at the end of the month

, BUT I do stay in the budget. I might go to Walmart 2 or 3 times a year if there is a good sale or I want to match prices from several stores (it is less than 5 miles away). I have a nice stock of pasta, soup, vegs. rice, salsa, tea & coffee & keep a few cans of evap.milk for emergencies. Freezer has orange juice, pre cooked meals(planned overs) meatloaf, lasagna, stuffed peppers, spaghetti sauce, pork chops, chicken, gr. chuck in 1# packs & a lot of turkey broth & soup from Thanksgiving & a nice chunk of ham from Christmas.

I shop when I need to. I still only buy my items when they are on sale and keep a good supply in the cupboard, freezers and storage bins. I have been telling the children to stock up as the price increases coming are going to wreak havoc on their food budgets. Ya'll should do the same, in my opinion.

You are so right John! I've been seeing some things go up in price weekly. I usually take my mom shopping at least once a week so I stock up at the same time. Saves on trips and gas. Once in a while a store near me will have a great sale on something I want. Then I get out the coupons and match them up. Just wish then coupons didn't have such short expiration dates.

Shop at Sprouts once a week and Walmart and Costco every 2 weeks. Always use coupons at Walmart.

My big shopping I go to Publix. They take computer coupons so I take what I have and use them there. For fill-in I go to Wal-Mart. I go big shopping once a week.

We shop [ from a list; no impulse items] on WEDNESDAYS(once ONCE aWEEK, at closest STORE (MARKET BASKET)(1/4 mile away) grocery store.That's the day the store gets deliveries[ 10AM] & are more likely to have the "sale items" in stock. Also a less busy day, for them w/ shorter lines at thececkout. shop from the sale ads & use coupons ( mfr. or store's own brand available ble on a rack near their courtesy booth...on those sale items or buy the store's own brand,on sale or w/their own coupons, when posible..I try to buy meats on reddot /mgr specials at 11AM; "day old"& still well w/in "sell by date)Iget 30% off on sirloin steak or filet mignon; boneless pork chops or rib lamb chops & still manage to stay stay w/in our food budget of $50 week. (average spending)One week might be$70 another few weeks, below $40
Once every other month to the"WHOLESALE/CLUB store & get laundry detergent, A fewpaper items.once ever 9 months, laundry detergent papergoodsonsale; canned & dry cat food & a "premium" cat litter also using manufacturer coupons on those items. BJ's allows using both mfr & their own coupons( located in the store's entry way or mailed to members .
I have gotten $150 shelf price of merchandise, there for $55.At the local grocery store; easily $200........ worth of"stuff"It's a lot of work; but w/ us both retired; we havethetime & enjoy the challenge of
" the game".the game is called"survival" w/o self denial; we eat well; smaller portions; a good variety of quality foods.[ see my daily menus in"DINNER TONIGHT"]

I usually shop about 5 times a week. The local super Walmart is only 5 minutes from our home. Ater a visit to the local wellnes center I hit the MacDonalds at the store for my reward - a senior coffee . black- no calories and so good.

Hi BARBARA ; I like that Safeway on-line deal, nothing like that here, yet . Our stores no longer send us sales flyers & do not put sale prices on their website. Fyers( ads) are not available till Sunday afternoon; ( the day the sale begins).Hubby walks over & gets 2 copies. We read them togeher; picking out items we use regularly or that apeal to us that week; ( fresh fish; frozen cooked & cleaned jumbo shrimp; fresh or frozen berries/peaches, fresh apples or oranges. We work as a team to beat the system. Once or twice a year we go to the bulk store(whole grains) & stock up on barley, couscous; oats & bucwheat [for pilaf]
