I remeber growing up with going out to pick our vegetables and helping my mom to prepare them for canning, it was something that we did together and I miss not being able to do that today with my kids

Wonderful memories. I did this with my mom and when I got married I had a garden and my daughters helped me pick and freeze vegetables. Not they are married but live close and still get excited about helping with the gardening and having fresh vegetables.

I have never canned but we did grow tomatoes and froze them to have plenty for making sauce all winter.

What wonderful memories--I remember growing up in the 60s and picking and canning fruits and veggies with my dad--he had learned from my grandma and it was something we had always done to help each other out. I was so fortunate to grow up with all that homemade baking and scratch cooking!

I would help my mom pick black raspberries in the summer. It would be so hot from the sun, the thorns would always scratch you and your fingers would be stained from the berries, but the best pies and jams were made from those berries.

I grew up on a farm. We canned and froze foods for the winter. Today I live in town but I still manage to put up tomatoes, peaches, relishes, jams and jellies. I don't have to do it as we did when I was growing up but I do so enjoy it. I get a feeling of accomplishment when I have finished.

Growing up I helped my mother and my grandmother can many things.  We also had a garden.  Learned a lot from them.
