I grew up on an Iowa farm and the kitchen was definitely the heart of the home. Everyone gravitated to the kitchen and there was always a coffepot full of coffee and cookies, or cake to go with it. I remember when I was really little that mom would spend one whole day each week baking. It seems that it has continued on with me also; my kitchen is where people gather; although I do not have coffee on all the time. As the children are all grown I no longer bake one day a week, but it seems I bake more than others my age. Baking for others is such a joy.

I love to bake too.  But I don't have enough people to help me eat the stuff unless I take it to work.  So sadly I don't bake as much now.

Sue, Our children are long gone from home so I, too, love finding a reason to bake for someone else!  Can't trust myself with too much of it here at home.  Hubby loves goodies, so I make sure he has a supply.

very nice story, thanks for sharing. There is something about sharing a meal that brings families together and no better place than in the kitchen. I too love to bake for others, DH enjoys it too.

I love to bake and bake a huge amount ..... way, way  too much for a single person but I pile the cookies up in my freezer and take them to the kids at church.

Yes it is amazing that the kitchen is where everyone seems to gather. Many wonderful memories old and new that happened in the kitchen as a little girl, wife and mother, and grandmother now.

The Kitchen. A place where love is given.

The kitchen is the heart of the home - cooking, baking, coffee, homework, bill paying etc.

We are empty nesters but do so enjoy cooking and baking!!  Thanksgiving is the one holiday of the year that I know for certain that we will have family, friends and stragglers coming through the door to feast and socialize!!

We are empty nesters too, but I still bake.  Put some in the freezer, give some to my son, give some to my sister in law who is paraplegic, and to others.  Love to cook and bake.

I bake cookies for my husband.  I prefer homemade to store bought.  That way you determine what goes into them, and they are healthier by far than store bought.

The kitchen certainly is a very important part of a home.  Ours is next to the family room.
