One early morning there was a knock on my door. When I questioned who was there, the answer was, the police. When I opened the door a policeman asked if my car had been stolen I looked out my front window, saw my empty parking space with a lot of broken glass where my car had been parked.Since my husband and I are both handicapped, the loss of the car was monumental to us.The police said they would put a BOLO on it and they would get in touch with us if anything turned up. I could by his face that he didn't expect to be giving us any good news. This happened three days before my birthday. Then, on my birthday I got a call from the police to let me know my car had been found. As a very grateful thank you, I baked a quadruple batch of chocolate chip cookies, with Nestle's Toll House chocolate chips.Everyone agreed that was a very sweet reward.

Glad you got your car back!  I bet those policemen enjoyed the cookies.  That was nice of you to bake for them.

We are all guilty of forgetting to express gratitude, and you overdid yourself with not only words of gratitude but the gift of cookies. Good job!

Very nice! I'm sure they enjoyed your cookies and were just doing their job but still much appreciated the acknowledgment.
Glad you were able to get your car back without much hardship for you and your husband.

It is amazing the feeling that you get when your car gets stolen or your house gets broken into.  You feel like you have been violated.  You have that "icky" feeling for a long time.
Glad you got your car back.  I am sure the officers greatly appreciated not only the cookies but the gratitude that they so often don't get.

Sorry your car was stolen, but glad you got it back.  That was so nice of you to bake the cookies for them.  I'm sure they were surprised and grateful.

What a wonderful good deed from you. Having policemen in the family, I know how little they are thanked. We see so much on TV that give the police negative pictures regarding violence etc.

Of course that was a good post --- like so many 2008 ones that are now appearing here.
But it was the single post written by "Kathleen S" on 10/1/2008 ..... Almost three years ago.

I wonder why these keep popping up ?
