My 5 year old son has come to love the fact that we often have homemade baked goods at our house. Last night he was searching for a snack before bed and just couldn't decide, shut the cabinet door and asked if we had any cookies or brownies. He loves to help and always confirms that Mommy has made good stuff! He only asked once why we didn't buy cookies at the store like Grandma had. Then he remembered that we get to make ours. We take it as a learning time and having fun. He now includes his baby brother in helping bake and taking care of him not to get burned on the stove. Two boys are such a joy to have helping in the kitchen.

Two boys in the kitchen.  That sounds wonderful.  I bet they will be fantastic cooks when they are older.

It worked for my sons.  They are both good cooks.
The older son is a better cook than his wife.  She usually lets him cook but she cleans up the kitchen.  I could deal with that.
The younger son shares kitchen duties with his wife.  They have three young daughters and she works part time (late crew at the local hospital) so he cooks on her work evenings.
Let those kids help and have fun in the kitchen!

I think mothers who don't teach their kids to cook/bake are doing them a disservice.  I know a lot of adult women who have never made anything from scratch.  How sad.

Nice that the boys can help you in the kitchen.  When my son and daughter were young I would often try to get them involved in cooking and baking.  Somehow they both lost interest until they were out on their own.  Now they both cook and bake.  My son is more into cooking while my daughter would rather bake.  Funny how not having anybody else cooking and baking for you can be a motivator lol.

I taught both of my sons how to cook, and 1 of them worked his way through college as a cook in a restaurant. They also know how to do laundry and iron! They will make good husbands some day!!!!

I taught both of my sons how to cook and bake. They also learned outdoor
cooking with the Boy Scouts. They both love to cook and bake. My youngest
son is the head cook in the restaurant that he works for. He worked for the
automotive industry but decided he liked cooking better. He did it just in
time before the economy went bad. He would have been laid off, but he
still has his job now. Good timing!!

This is a wonderful thing. My sons are both good cooks because of their early training. Being allowed to cook in my kitchen. What fun!

My youngest son was/is the baker and cook.  My oldest son struggled with a can opener LOL!!!  I think it's great that young boys, teens and young men like to be in the kitchen!  My husband is an awesome cook and even awesome-er sous chef! ♥

Both my sons were in the kitchen at an early age helping me.  Both know how to cook.  The younger son is a better cook, but they both do well.  I believe I mentioned it that at Christmas time, I was not able to do much.  Had just come out of the hospital for the second time in weeks with AFib.  My youngest son who lives 4 hours away shopped for the nonperishable foods and the older son who lives about 40 minutes away shopped for the perishable foods.  They did all of the cook ing and cleaning for Christmas dinner.  The youngest did more of the  cooking ahd the older son, did more of the cleaning; but together they did a great job.  They also brought food to their aunt and her aid and to the woman who lives upstairs from their aunt.  Our youngest son also made three kinds of delicious cookies that I always made at Christmas and packed them in Tupperware containers and brought them here.  He's been doing that the last several years.  Delicious!!!
