I was in 3rd yr. high school at Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School(MOGCHS) when I started baking and cooking dishes.Culinary of arts is at the top of my list when we were told to choose our specialty in T.L.E.then when I was in 4th yr(2008-2009s.y). I was assigned to be the cook of the day,of course I was excited and at the same time nervous! That time we baked brownies,I thought that everything was going to be perfect,BUT.........!!!unfortunately our time-keeper of the group miss to watch the time!!And there it goes.our brownies was burned,we tried to consume it but...it really taste bitter..!!hahaha we all blamed ourselves but most of them blamed me..Well this story is really special to me since this was the experience which challenges me to become a BEST BAKER!!!

Practice makes perfect. As a matter of fact, today I made dark chocolate chunk brownies, with Kahlua. They were for a friends b-day.Althought I thought they turned out good, she was gobbling them up. That made my day! So brownies to you, my fellow Very Best Baker!!

I hate it when food gets burned.  I always tend to go the other way & have it come out slightly undercooked to compensate.

Ditto what Pat said ....
Amd cookies are so easy to burn.  They have to be watched so carefully.

Don't know anyone who hasn't made mistakes, that's how we learn. Burnt food smells the worst too. My mom had a tip whenever I would tell her I burnt something, she would scrape the burned part off whenever possible or add orange juice to the pot.
Enjoyed your story, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing.  I'm sure you do fine now.  Keeping your own time for them to come out of the oven.

It seems you have to watch the timekeeper to make sure she is on the ball!

Great story and memory.  We've all burned something at one time or another - often more than once.

Great story.  The rule of thumb that I use is always check at least five minutes before it's supposed to be done.  I'll even set the timer for that because you never know if your oven isn't hotter than the one originally used in the recipe.

lol lol lol ---- last night I was trying to boil 3 dozen (!!) eggs to make deviled eggs for today's church dinner.  When the two big pots started to boil I put on the covers and set the timer for 10 minutes.  I took off to do other things and, of course, missed the timer.
As usual I had rubbery deviled eggs.  ~sigh~
