Toaster Oven in the Snow
Spread holiday cheer
It was a Currie and Ives Chrismas Day in Yakima Washington. I was making a non traditional Christmas Dinner. Part of the dinner included roasting some pine nuts which I was doing in the toaster oven.

It was a Currie and Ives Chrismas Day in Yakima Washington. I was making a non traditional Christmas Dinner. Part of the dinner included roasting some pine nuts which I was doing in the toaster oven. A fire broke out. I try to smother it but that was not working so I scream for my husband. He rushes in grabs his welding gloves that just happen to be in the kitchen... hollers for me to open the back door... takes the toaster oven and tosses it into a snow bank, which does indeed put out the fire as it sank through the snow bank. The toaster oven sat there till the spring when the snow melted around it. It was a lovely reminder of a memorable Christmas Day.

I am so glad that he was able to save the day - if not the toaster oven.

Glad it all turned out ok.  Good thing he had the gloves handy so he didn't burn his hands.
