This time of year always takes me back to my childhood. My mom would start her lists of what was going to be baked for the holidays and who was going to get what sent to them as a special holiday gift. She would make sugar cookies, spritz cookies, all kinds of fudge. Each year we would have an assembly line of baking cookines, decorating cookies and packing gift tins full of wonderful and tasty items.

Then about a month after Christmas, we would start receiving the tins back from everyone we sent the gifts to. They did not want to be missed next year.

Mom was such a great cook!

Did they send back the tins with treats for you & your family?  I always heard that when you returned a dish or tin, you should put something in it going back.

That was the tradition in our small town too.

That is the problem with living in an area that doesn't have a "normal" change of seasons. There isn't that crisp smell in the air, no leaves falling, no snow. I miss some of it. It is hard to have Christmas in shorts!

Great memories Betty!  My Mom and I still bake every year for Christmas and make up plates and tins of cookies and other treats.  Mostly they are hand delivered to neighbors and friends.  With all the cookies we bake, I am so happy that everybody buys Mom fruit instead of more cookies lol.

Millie, that sounds wonderful.  Do you still get to exchange with friends and neighbors

Verlee,
Love your picture. I still cry when I see that picture and all the videos made since then. God Bless America!
