My fondest memory of any holiday is Thanksgiving. It remains my favorite holiday even though it is very different than when I was a child. When I was young I loved waking up to the sounds of my mother baking and making all the yummy holiday foods. I loved the smell of the turkey cooking and the I also loved the anticipation of so many relatives arriving and everyone playing, eating and talking. My mother of course is much older now and leaves for winter to her Florida home in October, I so miss going to her house and seeing and smelling all the things that made me feel content growing up.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday too and it too has changed through the years. I put my own stamp on this festive dinner and I'm fortunate to have my Mom with us to enjoy some of her recipes and many new ones I've incorporated into our dinner.

That sounds like some of the memories I had when a child. Now I have been married for 22 years and live in a different state then my mother and rest of my siblings so things are not as good anymore

Wish mine were as good. My mother did not bake much but when she did, she would (and still does) have my brother help or start cooking later in the day
