I can remember my mother taking out her holiday baking book every year to get the recipe for rice pudding with raisins and sugar cookies. Every Easter she would prepare them as a dessert to our gigantic Easter supper. The only thing she would let me help with were the desserts and that was only adding the raisins to the pudding and sprinkling the sugar on the cookies. The best holiday I had is when I was 12 and she told me to make the cookies and pudding all by myself. I still make cookies every holiday but I can't find anyone who can make rice pudding as rich and sweet as my mom used to.

I have a brother that likes the sweets in my mom household because he loves sugar in his coffee.

I love to bake and love to share with others.  My grandson helped me make & decorate cut out cookies this weekend - I sent 1/2 home with him and took the remaining half to a church function and everyone loved them.  So thankful for the ability to share good times and sweets with family and friends.

That's a great memory.  My gang likes a simple butter sugar cookie that turns out like a short bread.  Evenwhen I make double batches, they disappear in a day or so.
