Growing up in New Orleans, my sisters and I had many memories of cooking and baking with our mother. After mother passed away in 2001, we still had the family home to gather for family meetings, Thanksgiving, Christmas, weddings, funerals, etc. But in 2005, Katrina hit and the family home was destroyed, along with precious photographs, family heirlooms and everything in a home. Thank God we still have the memories.

Hurricane Katrina destroyed a lot of lives and took far too many. I am so grateful to God that no one in my family lost their lives. And I'll continue to pray for those families that did.

Memories can never be taken away. Sorry about your loss, both of your mother and of your life's treasures. I hope and pray you will be able to rebuild and find new treasures. Now that pictures are digital, you can reprint them. Hopefully you had some stored in a computer or something that you can get a copy of. Ask other friends and family and together maybe you can get back some pieces of your life.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom and also of your home and your possessions. I understand what you are going through with the loss of pictures and other remembrances. My brother who lives in NJ was involved in three floods and lost everything of his pictures and other possessions. Thank God he and his dog survived! It is not easy to start all over. Hang on to the memories of your Mother and as Alena said, possibly some other family members can give you some pictures.

You have been through so much but have a very strong attitude. Faith in God is such a great comfort.
