Every year, our family would gather at either my grandma's house or my parents' house and make the Italian Easter Egg Cookies that my grandma had passed down to us from her mother, who passed it on... you get the idea. The cookies are shaped like baskets, and you put a hard-boiled egg in the middle and make the basket handle out of dough, then cook them. They get iced and sprinkled too. You can only imagine what my friends thought of me when I brought them to school, but I'd take any teasing because they were delicious. My sister and I still marvel over how much we loved to wake up in the days leading up to and following Easter, to eat those cookies for breakfast. They are horribly fattening, or else I'd still do the same thing!
