Baking is a HUGE part of my family pretty much year round. The one memory that sticks out for me is baking with my mom and my grandmother the day before Thanksgiving. We made big pies, and little "bird pies" or all types. When I was about six years old my grandmother started a yearly contest with my to see who could peel an entire apple without breaking the skin. We did this every single year right up until the year before she passed away. This tradition has carried on to my mother and I now. Everytime I peel an apple for a pie, I think of my grandma.
