What a wonderful tradition to carry on. You have the wonderful memories from when you were a child and you are carrying it on to your children and all the other children in the family! How wonderful!!!

I'm glad that traditions still mean so much in today's busy world. Hope we all remember what really counts in these times of financial troubles, Family!!!

When our children were young, we used to stuff their large Christmas stockings full of small treats and toys with an orange in the toe.  Ater they fell asleep we would hang the stocking on the doorknob on the out side of their bedroom door.  When they awoke on Christmas morning (extra early of course) they were busy for an hour examining all the goodies, and we got some extra sleep.

When I was young ... long, long time ago ... the last Sunday morning before Christmas, as they left church, each child was given a small, brown paper bag.  It contained an orange, a handful of peanuts and "store-bought candy".  Wow - store-bought hard candy.
Candy that wasn't home-made was very scarce and an almost magical treat at Christmas.  We saw peanuts only at Christmas.

We actually had a special plate made when the kids were little that said...."Dear Santa ~ These cookies and milk are for you! Love the (and our last name)".  I still have that plate and will pass it on down to my son when he has babies of his own!!
