I had the pleasure of growing up in a large family, I had 7 sisters and 4 brothers. We were getting ready for Thanksgiving, it was my last one before I got married. My mom, myself, and my sister were getting things ready to start cooking. Someone had the wonderful idea of using the wood cook stove for most of the meal. This was a first for me, ( and apparently for my mom also). We started the 20 some pound turkey, got the sides ready to start about an hour before the turkey would be done. Who would have guessed that wood heat cooks really fast. The turkey was done within 3 hours. After a few momemts of panic, family would not be arriving for another couple of hours, we took the turkey out of the oven, covered it well and we waited. We had everything ready for the family and even though the turkey was a bit dry (we put it back to warm). It was a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we never tried to cook the turkey in the wood oven again.
