Many years ago when I was first married I decided that I wanted to try making Spritz cookies from a recipe that my old high school and college friend had given  me. It was her mother's recipe and very treasured in her family.  I needed a cookie press for the recipe, so Iwent out and got one with BLue Chip Stamps ( similar to Green Stamps, but mostly in the western states).  I made the recipe every Christmas and it became one of the family favorites.  The equipment I had was a "cookie gun" rather than a press.  It shot out cookies for many years.   Then about 3 years ago, it was evident that it was on its last legs...spring was going etc.  I was distressed as to how I was going to make those cookies.  However, I was going to a charity luncheon/ auction  where members bring items for auction be it new, homemade or white elephant.  Lo and Behold one member brought a cookie gun that was exactly like my old one in the original package.  She had had it for years and never used it.  I think the original price was about $6, but I kept bidding on it and ended up paying $15.  Afterall It was for charity, and now I have a new to me cookie gun in excellent condition.  However, I cannot seem to throw away the old one.

You can't throw away the old one??!!  What's the matter?

I could easily toss an old cookie press ... but I absolutely have to hang on to things like a precious, wonderful, priceless
potato masher  that I got in 1971.

Hey - what's your recipe for for those cookies?  Did you know we have a discussion on that in another forum?

Too funny Nancy!  I have a potato masher from 1971 too lol.  Even though I bought a new one,  I just can't seem to part with the old one which was part of set given to me by my grandmother.

Good to hear that you found another cookie gun Barbara.  Sometimes the old things are much better than the new ones!

Merry Christmas!

I "think" I have 3 cookie guns however I only use one of them.  I may have more but I guess until the favorite breaks I'll never know!!

I have a cookie press in my cabinet downstairs, but have not used it.  Keep saying I'm going to try it, but have not had a chance to do so.  Soon, I hope.

My cookie gun is about 30 years old but I guess I would call it something else you just push the dough with a the handle at the back and the dough comes out of a  round disk of your choice have about 4 of them.disks

I used to use a cooky gun years ago - a manual one.  Now I have an electric one but don't use very often as the kids are grown.  I don't bake as much.

My mother in law passed away two years ago.  I wish I had asked for her cookie gun.

Too funny Angela!   I'll bet we all have some "antiques" somewhere in our kitchens or in storage just waiting to be used again.  I know I do lol.
