When I was growing up my mom always wanted a perfectly ordered house, but with 7 children that was impossible for her to achieve, so when we were all married and out of the house she finally had her wish. Every cupboard and container in her house was labled to show what they contained. Once when my husband, our three children and I were visiting she informed us that she had just reorganized the kitchen was getting ready to put the baking items in the labeled containers. Well she had some errands to run so she asked me to come and we went on her way. While we were gone my husband decided to help with the kitchen organization and started to put the flour, and other kitchen foods in the labeled containers. That was an important effort to him since he was an ex-Marine and really enjoyed an orderly house. Well he must have gotten confused or distracted by the kids because when mom fixed her wonderful dinner we all had a very big surprise when we started to eat her biscuts and gravy. It seems that the flour container contained baking powder instead of flour and everything was a little salty, to say the least. WEll mom was really surprased and my husband was very embarrassed by the mistake and it was a long time before he was allowed to touch anything in her kitchen again.

Oh well... things happen.  But I would have felt terrible myself if I had been the one to mess up the "perfect" kitchen.   I am sure your Mom got over it sooner than your husband did.

Funny story, even though it probably wasn't at the time!  Guess those containers weren't labeled very well lol.

Yes, Nancy, VBB is still recycling old posts.  Still funny to read some of them though.

I don't think I would have gotten too upset over this, since he was just trying to be helpful. I never turn down help in the kitchen, probably because I ususally don't get any help!!
