WHEN MY SISTER WAS 17 SHE WANTED TO MAKE HER BOYFRIENDS FAVORITE, TUNA FISH CASSEROLE. I TOLD HER THE INGREDIDENTS, BUT SHE MADE THE CASSEROLE. AS HER BOYFRIEND WAS EATING IT ,HE ASKED HER AGAIN WHAT IT WAS. WHEN HE SAID HE DID NOT HAVE ANY TUNA ON HIS.SHE REALIZED THAT THE TUNA WAS STILL SITTING ON THE KITCHEN CABINET,SHE HAD FORGOTTEN TO PUT IT IN THE CASSEROLE. AT FAMILY GATHERINGS SHE IS STILL REMINDED OF IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS 29 YEARS AGO, WE STILL LAUGH ABOUT IT

That reminds me of my very first cooking experience! Not long after I had learned to read, I too, wanted to make a tuna casserole. My mother turned me loose in the kitchen and let me follow the recipe by myself.

Sorry, I hit the "enter" key. Anyway, as we were eating, my dad mentioned that the casserole was a little dry. That's when I realized that I had only used 1/4 teaspoon of milk instead of 1/4 cup. I don't think I have ever made another tuna casserole.

Boy! I can really relate! I can't tell you how many times I have done this! Thankfully, I have gotten better at my cooking and I try to check the recipe again before I finish.

HiPAT A;That's the way my HOME EONOMICS teacher taught us.& I then taught my church school cooking classes,While it doesn't guarantee success;it makes the hance of human error substantialy less.
My wood-shop /carpentry teacher always said: "MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE!" forthesame reason: LESS LIKELY TO goof

& read the recipe TWICE! LOL

My sons always criticize me for double checking the ingredients and amounts, but I know why I do it. If I messed up a recipe they would never let me forget that!

Cute story! I know I've forgotten to put things in when making a recipe. After 30 years of making some recipes I still get out the cookbook to make sure I don't forget to add things.

Your sister can always say she was a pioneer in trying to create a vegan meal years before it was in vogue lol.
