It was the week before Christmas. We shared an apartment with my mother in Flushing NY. When you walk outside in Flushing you don't feel the holiday spirit. I really don't get into the mood for the Holidays until we start to make cookies!!

My daughters pre-school class was having a party, an I made the decision to make a ton of cookies for her class. I had never made cookies without my mother before, so I was a beginner!! I started with chocolate chip cookies, the Toll house cookie recipe of course! Well I didn't realize that you needed to let the butter come to room temperature before you start mixing ingredients together. So I put it in the microwave to soften it, well it did soften it but.... it also melted half the butter. Not thinking about the heat I added it like the recipe said and to my horror the chocolate started to melt!! I didn't know what to do so I kept mixing it up and added another bag of chips so you could see it was supposed to be chocolate chips!!! I also had my daughter and my husband help me with sugar cookies, I don't think they used any flour to roll the cookies since both of them were covered from head to toe in flour. And guess who got to clean up that fun mess!!! Another think they didn't get on the cookies was the sprinkles!! They were everywhere, and yes they even had some in their mouths!! Well after all of that messy fun I was so glad that the ladies at the pre-school appreciated our cookies as well as the story I told them about making the cookies!! They tasted oh so good!!
