i had baked a beach scene cake for my twin daughters birthday and had used blue icing instead of gelatin for the water we live in houston texas and had to transport the cake about 10 miles to a friends house for the party
when we got to the friends house we opened the box and all of the icing had sort of melted because i had no ac in my car and it was 100 degrees outside the girls and their friends saw the cake and since we had recently had a tropical storm scare they said hey mom the cake got hit by the tropical storm but they still ate it and had a blast at their party

Sounds like a similar incident that happened to me. You have some really special daughters to have made the best of the situation.

Sometimes things that aren't planned work out for the best anyway. That's great that the kids just went with it and enjoyed themselves.

Glad it turned out ok.  I'm sure it was delicious just the way it was.

I would not worry about the final look of it so much.  They were fortunate that you went to the trouble of making them a nice cake.  I am sure it still tasted wonderful.
