Torte Accident, Folding Method Ignored, Eggs Not really Whipped

So I got this recipe from Ghirardelli's website for a flourless mocha torte. I wanted to experience if a flourless cake would really be good. So I gathered all the ingredients,and I began by melting the chocolate. Next, the recipe told me to whip the eggs until soft peaks form. I whipped the eggs but I only whipped until bubbles. THen I poured in the chocolate, but instead of folding, I used the mixer to mix it in! ALso I used a pan that was more than a foot long in diameter. I baKED but when the cake came out, it looked like a combination of egg yolks and burned chocolate. My whole family laughed and I said to myself,"Hmmph, Ghirardelli isn't a reliable source after all." It's special because it was one of my biggest and silliest baking mistake ever!

This sounds like a person that has problems with reading and following the directions correctly. I had made errors when I did not follow the directions correctly and I only have myself to blame when that does happen.

Some recipes have complicated directions. But there is usually a reason why they tell you to do things in a certain way. I have had some less than "perfect" results trying to rush thru the instructions. But don't give up. Cooking is an adventure. You never know quite how it will end up when you try something new.

I think that is great for a fourteen year old girl to even attempt making a torte.I know a lot of grown ups that would'nt even try.Good for you and you knew what you did wrong and the next time it will turn out great.We learn from our mistakes.

Alice, I am very proud of you for trying. We have all made mistakes at one time or another and something didn't turn out right but that's how we learn. And that is the important thing to remember.
