I have just recently been using my slow cooker a lot. It started slowly. You know the occastional here and there stuff. But now I'm using it at least once maybe twice a week. I don't even bother to put it in the cabinet any more. It sits happily waiting on the counter for me. It's a great tool you might say. In the morning you put your ingriedent's in and leave it alone. And by the time it's dinner, it's ready. A home cooked that you didn't have to slave over. My grandson will come in remark grandma making something good. I can smell! I don't know but I might using everyday before long:)

Teresa, I have several sizes of slow-cookers and I use them all. They come in so "handily" when one works during the week.

This post is really helpful, I have been on the fence about buying a slow cooker. I just might go shopping this week.

I think they are great.  I have two of them.  One is smaller and one is larger.

When my son comes to visit from 4 hours away, he always makes his signature chili for us to put in the freezer.  Of course, he uses the slow cooker.

I love to use a slow cooker.  There is nothing like smelling the food already cooked when you walk in the door at night.
And it seems so effortless this way.  Yes, there is still some prep.... but it is so much less rushed when the bulk of your
food is waiting for you.

You don't really need much of a recipe to cook meats.  Just put the meat in the cooker with a small amount of water or a can of soup or even canned tomatos or sauce.  Then add whatever spices you like & it will cook itself all day.  I like to put frozen meats in at night & add
some veggies (from cans no less) just before I leave for work.  When I get home, it is all ready - just like magic.  I cook chicken, ribs, beef, or almost anything that is not ground up.

Slow cookers rock especially on the days when it's cold outside!! Family comes home to the wonderful smells of all day simmering and instantly warm up!!

Years ago I had a slow cooker and never used it once the newness had passed.  I ended up giving it away.  Fast forward many years and now I have two of them.  The one I had was great but I borrowed my neighbor's larger one and come Christmas, she gave me a larger one.

I had borrowed hers because my husband and I were hosting a Christmas party for our Sunday School class here in our home.

I wanted to have several slow cookers to keep the hot food hot during the party.  I was able to have all the food laid out on the counter in containers so that the buffet food stayed good and hot throughout the party.  I know that mashed potatoes will hold up for a bit more than an hour in a slow cooker, as did the other vegetables.

We'd done the pork loin on the grill and the other meat was done in the electric roaster.

By doing this, I had any pots and pans and any dishes used to prepare the food cleaned up and put back into the cupboard prior to the party.  It looked as though I had put little effort into the dinner.   Believe me, that wasn't the case.  There were only 17 of us and things went very smoothly.

I will do a pot roast in the slow cooker but for most everything else that requires "slow" cooking I find myself using the pressure cooker.
Using the pressure cooker dinner can be almost a last minute thing.
