Thanks for dinner honey!

When we were first married my husband wanted to surprise me and cook dinner for me and he made dessert also.The dinner was a disaster,he made Swedish meatballs and decided to skip steps,example flour was to be added to the gravy to thicken it,he added it to the meat,it called for a cup of beef bouillon, not a cup of bouillon granules which he also added to the meat.Then he used my new plastic strainer to strain the grease from the meat and melted my new strainer.OMG! The cake he made was two 9x13 layered with jelly between the layers and he frosted it also.He asked me how I liked the cake and I told him it was just the way I liked it,medium rare,it was not baked enough and was raw inside.We both started laughing.I look back on that and it still makes me laugh. We celebrated our 31st anniversary in June and he is not allowed in the kitchen to make anything.LOL

Awe that is sweet that he tried.  My husband did the same thing with laundry and he is not allowed to touch my clothes since then.  I guess I am blessed that he can made a decent meal!

Funny story!  My husband can cook and do laundry since he lived on his own before we got married.  Once in a while I let him cook but laundry....no way!  Although I think he can do a great job,  he always messes with the settings on the machines lol.  Very frustrating to go in the laundry room and have to reset everything.  Maybe I'm too set in my ways but after almost 30 years he should be used to me lol.

YOUR GUYS ARE PRETTY CLEVER;Kiss  messing up once gets them out of the job forever Wink
My poor hubby tried that & was taught by me( once a home economics teacher), how to do tasks efficiently...He actuallly  enjoys doing it & has catered a few of our social gatherings, to show off his newly acqired skills   CoolOver the48 years of our marriage, he's done many loads of laundry;  while I was in the hospital after being injured by a drunk driver or visiting my Mom ( on the other coast) in her later years. It was nice coming home to no dirty clothing; a bed w/clean sheets & a light supper w/no efort on my part.Smilehe's PRETTY CLEVER; other than a bit of JET LAG; I had plenty of time &energy left to celebrate being home again w/him.KissLaughing
BTW
 I taught both our sons how to do laundry & prepare simple meals. Neither does either often,but knowing what it requires, they are  are more appreciative of their wives daily efforts. Cool
My daughter in laws both know they were chosen by our sons for love & not for  the need of a housekeeper or cookKiss

Sweet story;so nice he tried. If my hubby had not learned to cook;when Ispent 3months in the rehab hospital; he woulld have starved to death;  instead he kept our two teenage sons &himself well fed.on weekend visits(passes,(priorto my release) I had good home-cooked meals prepared, lovingly by him; nothing gourme-t fancy,: spagheti i & sauce w/a s alad;  tuna sandwiches;  burgers & fries( frozen)
No body masleor femaleshouldbe leftunableto feed themselves; & keep up with  light household chores. Whenhe wasoverseas(Vietnam era)I reframeddoors; paintedroms; assembledstoragecsabinets&laidanew bathroom floor. I never believedthatsomejobs were male or female jobs; we all can do all of them & sometimes have no other choiceMoney mouthTongue outSmile

Both of my boys cook,clean and do the laundry that is because I taught them to do so.My husband's solution for dinner is take out.I was in the hospital for a couple of months a few years ago.The boys took care of Dad and God bless my friends and neighbors who sent food over almost daily.My mother in law never made her boys do anything around the house and I wanted to be the perfect wife and always took care of everything in the home.So I spoiled him rotten ,not always a good thing.He has always been a good provider,so I can't complain too much.

My husband does the laundry (when he's in town- travels alot and does his own when he's not here), but we had to stop combining our girls clothes with ours, as he could not seem to distinquish who's clothes where who's even though we are 3 completely different sizes.  So that lead to my kids doing their laundry (and making them responsible for their own clean clothes Cool) 
He can cook, but has his standby's of simple burritios, tacos, sandwiches and the best chilli in the world.  My daughters and I share the cooking depending on our schedules.  With a busy family, it takes all of us to keep things together.
