Pat was talking about the little flowers we had added to the cake and the chocolate chips. I began to tell her how we did not have the ingredients I needed for the bavarian cream filling so I had to use the chocolate instead. I had also purchased Nestles chocolate chips for the toll house cookies with a coupon from this site and so I decided to use them in the decoration scheme since I had chocolate filling in the middle. LeeAnn made a letter "P" for Pat on top and around the edges of the top. I wanted to add something else also. I usually have gum paste flowers or something made up but of course this has not been a typical baking day. I saw the bag of minature marshmellows and thought I can add them to it. I took them out and began to roll each one flat to form flowers for the cake. As Adrik passed by and saw me "mashing" them up he cried out No, Memaw don't mash the marshmellows. I am making Tia Pats birthday cake. My birthday he said, NO, Tia Pats birthday. Okay he was satisfied for the moment. I continued to roll out the marshmellows to make enough flowers for the cake. Each time I would "mash" them Adrik would cry out Oh, no don't mash them up. Finally I had to ask some of the boys to take him into the other room where they were playing games, he was so upset with me mashing up the marshmellows. ( I gave them a few to take with them. I put stems in each mashed marshmellow and twisted it around and added some dusting powder to color it just a little bit. Pat was laughing as we all were, except Adrik, he still did not like the idea of mashing them up. Elijah (grandson) ask for another cupcake and Pat handed it to him. I told her that she was to take the remainder of the cake and cupcakes home for her birthday. Okay no more she said, laughing. Now that I know they are going home with me. But she did ask if anyone else wanted one. Brother Joe (her dad) ask for one more, he had been kinda alert today, but he kept asking whose birthday it was. (He has Alzheimers) She quickly then told Salvador to put them in the car as she gathered up her presents. She has been redecorating her livingroom in a red and back color scheme with zebra stripes, it is really nice. So I had bought a picture for her with zebras running through the pasture and David and LeeAnn were going to paint the frame for me to make it black with white stripes with a little red added around the stripes. David had left it by the bed upstairs because Brother Joe had almost broken it when he sat down in his recliner. I told David to take it upstairs to save it for the party. I told LeeAnn to bring it out and she said SURPRIZE Adrik jumped on the bed and the glass broke. He was okay but the picture needs a new glass. I will get it done for her this next week. Pat loves red and her kitchen has an apple theme so we did have some pictures for her for the kitchen and even a horn of plenty full of apples. LeeAnn also gave her a bag od plastic apples saying just in case you needed more of them to decorate with. We all laughed. Except Salvador, he thinks there are too many apples already. Well the twilight has taken over the day and it is getting late so we all said our goodbyes and Pat thanked everyone and she said she was surprized because she thought we had cancelled the dinner. I kept thinking to myself though who reall did get the surprize this day? Anyway, thanks for reading and have a nice day, Donna Maybe next year we can really surprize her?
