It was New Year's Eve and a storm was raging outside. My parents, aunt, uncle and boyfiend (now my husband) were at my parent's beach house, where we had spent Christmas. One of my gifts was a bread machine. I was thrilled. I decided to make a cranberry-orange bread in my new speed demon (I had always made bread from scratch before this). I carefully loaded the ingredients and started the machine. The sound of the blade mixing was music to my ears.....until the power went out. Then came back on and the cycle started over. Then the power went out again....and came back on. You get the idea. That first loaf was mixed and/or kneaded probably 5 or 6 times. But we laughed and ate it anyway. And you know what? It was the best loaf of bread we ever had! Every time a make a loaf of bread I think about that night.

What a wonderful way to spend Christmas and the number of times it was kneaded was why it was so good. I love homemade bread.

THis is a great story. I am sure that bread was great. I love my bread maker but only use it on the dough cycle and then bake the bread in my oven in different shapes.
Spending Christmas at a beach house sounds like HEAVEN! Thanks!!!
