My son used a cup of salt instead of a tsp of salt when he was making cookies. He was in a hurry and did not take the time to read the receipe.

My oopps wasn't with baking but making chili. I was a young married and my husband and I had been working outside gardening etc. I was really tired and went into the house to make chili. I grabbed ground cloves instead of chili. Yuuuuuuk!!!

My neighbor made a cherry pie from the cherries on a tree in her yard, where she had just moved to, only she didn't know you have to pit the cherries!

The first time I tried to make oatmeal cookies, I gathered all the ingredients.  But it seemed like too much trouble to mix them the way the recipe said to.  So I ended up with oatmeal rocks!  I learned there is a reason they tell you how to combine those ingredients!  LOL

I enjoyed that about the cherries. Remember when I was a kid we moved from a house with a sweet cherry tree to one with a sour cherry tree. Now I check instead of taking it for granted. SUGAR is a necessity!!

Thanks for sharing.  I think we've probably all had our share of "oops" when baking or cooking.  The trick is not to make the same mistake twice lol.

When I was still in college, I was home for the holidays.  My mother decided to send me back with a batch of chocolate chip cookies.  When I tasted them after I was back at college, they were terribly salty and not edible.  I never did tell her.

It was nice of you to not embarass her by telling her the cookies were bad.  This is one of those - it's the thought that counts moments.
