I remember a few years back while staying at my Father's home My husband decided he wanted to make a chocolate cake (scratch built)... He had never made a cake like that before and I thought that this would be a wonderful idea for my husband to learn to do. Everything went smoothly, my Dad overseen the procedure step by step but unfortunately, was not in the room during the time my husband had added the baking soda and baking powder. The batter looked good and he popped it in the oven and then proceeded to prepare the icing. After everything was complete the cake looked as decadent and perfect as could be... but none of us were prepared for what was to take place later that evening. We had a couple of friends over for dinner that night. Dinner was a success and finally now was the time for my husband to present the impressive looking chocolate cake. It was delicious! My father and husband had two servings, I had one. It was very rich and moist and everyone commented on how well it turned out. My husband had such a proud and accomplished look on his face. After about 15 minutes had passed with continuous visiting and chatting throughout the room... It happened... My Dad couldn't get to the restroom in time before a very loud quack emitted from him. He was so red and expressing how sorry he was to be so rude. But unfortunately, it turned out at the same time he was apologizing, many quacks had started emerging from different areas in the room we were in. My husband and I just could not figure out what was going on, but being that we were around family and friends, the sudden silence turned into uncontrollable laughter. What had happened was that the double dosage of the baking powder and the baking soda had made that chocolate cake a very potent bomb to anyone who dared to eat it. I had never forgot that day and I knew that my Dad just couldn't help but rub it in and laugh about it every time since then, every time he visited with my husband. It's been a while now since my husband has made a cake from scratch but he does prefer to use box cakes.

I thought that was very funny. A typical family. Atleast the cake tasted good.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Better to laugh than cry when things don't turn out the way we would like them to.
