I am trying to create Baking Memories, I am 58 and I still can't bake, I keep trying and trying. I pray that the things I make are edible and look like they are supposed to. I never trust the baking

I never trust the baking time given in the recipe and I always add more time to it as I don't believe that it will be baked. I am working on my baking skills.

I would suggest that you find a very simple recipe (here on very best baking) and force yourself to follow the instructions to the letter and see what happens. Once you learn to trust a recipe, your baking will become more edible and in time, you won't need any recipes.

I am just the opposite of you. I usually start with a little less time than the recipe calls for. Just remember when cooking, you can always add more time if it is not done, but you can't take time back from overcooked food.

I believe much of your difficulty comes from not having faith in your baking abilities. just follow a tried and true recipe such as you will find here, follow it and BELIEVE that it will turn out and it will. also if you are using a glass baking dish the oven teperature should be reduced by 25 degrees. also have you checked to be sure your oven is at the correct temperature? An oven thermometer can be purchased at many of the large supermarkets. I hope this helps, I am 54 years old and love to bake and Yes I have had some creations that I never let anyone know i made, so just hang in there and keep baking. Good Luck,
