I got the bright idea one day, that instead of baking a chocolate cake, or something really sweet, I was going to make an applesauce spice cake. Now I hadn't done very many of these for some time at that time, so I took my time, put a lot of effort in it, and it came out great. I put it at the center of the table. I had house work to do and the girls wanted to play. So we busied our selves with our day. I was never to far away from the kitchen. It was time to have a piece of cake in the afternoon. As I went into the kitchen my eyes met a surprise, Molly our 150lb. Newfoundland and discovered a love for applesauce! she had stood up on her hid legs and helped herself. Somehow she managed to get the cake and the empty plated was sitting safely on a chair.Whats worse there wasn't even a crumb. Needless to say from then on all cooling baking efforts were put on the sideboard in the dinning room, and molly, for the remainder of the time she was with us, stayed out of the kitchen. Who ever says dogs should not eat cake needs to inform the dogs!
