My parents were from a small town in Ohio.I was one of 5 children, all girls and the only one to live away from home.My parents rarely left that little hometown but this Thanksgiving was the exception.Mom was a wonderful baker so the deal was Mom would come early and make the desserts and the rest of the family would come later.Mom came and made several pies including one bannana cream pie ,which was esp. for my father.Thanksgiving dinner went well and it was so nice to have my family at my home for a change. After a rest from dinner we had dessert.Dad of course ahd a piece of the cream pie.All of a sudden he started laughing. He was laughing so hard pretty soon all the rest of us were laughing too.except my Mom she was so upset that Dad was laughing about the pie. When we finally could settle down and Dad could talk without laughing he asked Mom to try the pie.To her amazemnet the pie tasted great but there was not one banana in the pie.She blamed it on working in a strange kitchen and with that we all started to laugh again ths time Mom joined in.It was the best cream pie ever.
