It was my son-in-laws birthday and my daughter didn't want to bake. So I surprised her by baking a two-layered round cake. I baked the cake.It came out of the oven a little lop-sided. No problem I could handle that. I made a buttercream icing from scratch I saved some aside to make chocolate icing in the middle and a football on the top. My son-in-law is a football fan, big time.I put the first layer on my plate upside down, as should and put almost all the chocolate icing on it. All is going well and was so proud of myself. Then I put the other layer on top. But to my surprise I forgot to put it right side up. Nothing I could do now but to proceed. I put the white icing all over the cake, except the fottball outline I had made. I finished up the cake with the chocolate icing on the football with white piping. But it was lopsided for sure. It was a lot of work, so I took it to the party anyway. To my surprise everyone loved it.
