When I was growing up, I loved my mother's homemade chocolate cake. I couldn't wait to have the frst piece. When my mother gave me some, I ate the frosting and very little of the cake. She asked why I didn't eat the cake & I told her "I just left the crumbs!" She always laughed. She is gone now, but I enjoy sharing that story with my own kids.

I was the opposite, I loved the cake best.  I could eat cake plain.  And all the crumbs too!   LOL

Nothing better than homemade chocolate cake! I too would have done the same thing, some frostings are just too sweet.

This reminds me of the times when I was growing up that my Mom would make chocolate cake. When the cake was gone, I would scrape the crumbs from the bottom of the pan and pour them into a glass of milk. Almost as good as milk with Hershey's chocolate syrup in it!
