Well I had take all three Wilton Cake Decorating Courses and had been dabbling in cakes when my neice asked me to make her Grooms Cake. At first I was hesitant but then I thought I will never learn if I don't try. So I accepted the challange. Well the cake whe wanted was shaped in a heart and it had the bride and groom's head peaking up out of a jacuzzi tub. Well the bubbles were white gumballs small and large. I first started going to all of the different mall's that had candy stores and picking out all of the small and large WHITE gum balls for this cake. I ended up going to seven different places. If that wasn't crazy enough, I started the cake and everything actually went very well and the cake looked great. The day of the wedding reception it decided to rain so my sister and I were transporting the Groom's cake to the reception and I was driving very slowly so that nothing would happen to the cake. Well during this drive I kept looking back to check on the cake. Driving slowly and looking back, driving slowly and looking back. We were almost where we needed to be when I heard this plump plump and I turned around to check on the cake and that is when I screamed OMG, the heads had falled off of the cake. I was freaking out. We got to the reception and luckly my cousin (she made the Wedding Cake)was there! I told her what had happened and she was just laughing and laughing and of course I was horrified. She said not a big problem, so she took a couple of the gum balls from the top of the cake and stuffed them in the back to hold the heads in place and all was fine. My groom's cake was a big hit it was all gone even before the Wedding Cake. We still to this day talk about that cake and just laugh and laugh.

Reminds me of our wedding cake when it was being photographed by the church janitors daughter and she accidently fell onto the table. Causing the cake to fall over, well everything turned out ok, only one layer was totally gone, it was a beautiful tall layered cake and the daughter was on a ladder to photograph it from above. I wonder if she still has that picture. Take care and God Bless.

Funny now but then it wouldn't have been. Happy it all turned out great. At least it wasn't a big disaster only the heads fell off and that was fixable. It could have been worse. Thanks for sharing this with us.
