I was working in a hospital in a small town called Palmer Alaska (8 miles from Wasilla). I thought it would be fun and a nice gesture to make some wonderful homemade fudge to take to work to share with my co-workers the next day. I was busy in my kitchen preparing my fudge using only the best Nestle Toll House chocolates and Carnation evaporated milk. I had a cockatiel named Pe' Pe'. I would always let her out of her cage to have freedom in the house. She was such a good girl. Never had any problems with her. She loved being in the kitchen with me when I was cooking, baking or even just washing dishes. Most of the time she would sit on my shoulder while I do all of the above. Well, on this Spring day that I can recall as I was in my final stage of preparation of my fudge, spreading it around in my pyrex dish, she flew down from my shoulder and landed right in the middle of my dish and started pecking at the fudge. SHE LOVED IT! She looked so funny walking on the fudge; she had turned black, the chocolate covered her pink feet. Wish I had got a picture to share. Have you ever heard of a bird that loves fudge? Pe' Pe' was spoiled but was loved & now missed so very much. I have shared this story with many and think about her everytime I prepare my homemade fudge. Thank you for allowing me to share my story publically. Pe' Pe' was a good bird that obviously loved fudge.

That is so neat, I have a male and female cockatiel, but neither will let me handle them yet. Now that I have ready your story everytime I see them I will visually see your story happening. Thanks for sharing.

What a special story! We had a cockatiel named Job who went on vacation with us. I can remember when we came to the tollway in New York state, my husband grumbled and Job let out a big squak. We laughed so much at him. Animals are certainly entertaining.
