Every year my neighbor and I have baked our Christmas cookies together. Even though she has moved we continue the tradition!
[p]We alternate houses each year and the year of this story we were in "Annie's" (name has been changed to protect the not so innocent) kitchen - thank goodness! We began making our cookies that day and Annie opened the wine. Note we are not big drinkers.
[p]The cookies started out great and slowly went down hill. Almost in exact sync with the liquid level in the wine bottle. By the time we were working on our peanut butter cookies things were a bit messy in the kitchen and got a whole lot messier! Annie was working with an artisan mixer and peanut butter while I was drying some dishes and making our next batter. All of the sudden I heard "Oh no!" when I looked over at Annie she had peanut butter from head to toe and upon closer inspection of the kitchen there was peanut butter from ceiling to floor and EVERYWHERE in between! The mixer head had flipped up somehow and had spun creamy peanut butter everywhere. To this day we are still not sure how it happened!

[p]After getting over the initial shock of the situation, we began laughing and quickly tried to clean up the kitchen before our husbands saw the mess and wouldn't let us bake together anymore!

[p]Our annual tradition continues, but the wine portion of the program has been cut!

Learning memories are so great, and funny, years afterward.  Hope you can always keep baking together but if you can't just remember there is the camera and connections to make it like being there.

What a great story!   Just goes to show a little wine can be a good thing but too much of a good thing leads to accidents LOL.  Hope you two can bake together for many years to come.

That's such a sweet story - two friends baking together.  Who needs wine?!

That was too funny. Drinking and baking  don't mix.

Too funny,  I would have invited the neighborhood dogs in as they all love peanut butter and they would have licked the place clean in a matter of minutes.  I would not advise sharing your wine with them as dogs can't handle their liquor let alone their liquid fluids when they get loaded...LOL  (CAUTION)Next time you get together to bake you may have a line of dogs by your back door!

Even old (August, 2008) posts are so entertaining.
