My daughter Leeann had just married David and she was trying so hard to satify him with her cooking. She said she made some of those rice cereal treats and it did not take her long as it is an easy recipe. But she wanted David to think she had been working all day in the kitchen for him so when she heard him come in the door she took some flour and kind of threw it around her face and on her apron to look like she had been cooking up a storm. When she picked up the treats and took them into the living room to offer David one she said he looked at her kind of funny. She said she told him "Look I have been working so hard to make these especially for you." David smiled and said thanks but what is all the flour from? LeeAnn new she was busted... you don't put flour in that kind of cereal treat. He hugged her and said he loves her and now it is a standing joke when theses treats are served everyone ask "Where is the flour?" This is probably a story she will never live down. But she does take it with a smile. I ask her why she put flour on her and she said I just wanted to look like one of those people who worked so hard for their husband, trying to please him. now he is lucky to get a bologna sandwich (his favorite) because she is so busy with the kids and her job. She is a really good cook and eager to learn even more recipes. Thanks for reading and have a good day and a good laugh about this story (I hope), Donna

When I was growing up there was a t.v. commercial like that. The lady threw flour on her face and then served the cereal bars. My Mom and I used to laugh at it. Then she asked me if she should do that too. I told her no, that I knew she always worked hard to make things nice for our family. This is a great memory for me as well

That is a very funny story . I know how she feels. It's hard trying to do everything by yourself cooking, cleaning, and watching a little one. I have a 15 month old an he's always on the go and he always wants mommy or daddy all the time an it's hard when you have alot of things to do all at ones. Thanks for sharing Donna it was a very cute story. I can't wait to hear more

It wasn't the rice cereal/marshmallow treats, it was a steak that my sister cooked for her husband.  It was the first time that she'd tried to broil a steak and it came out like a hockey puck (her description), but he ate it and said that he liked it.  Needless to say, 36 years later, her steaks are better now.

I love baking/cooking but with busy family, that is not always a top priority.  The best feeling I get is when I make something that they all get excited over, even if it is fairly easy.

Years ago when the Food Network just started I was watching a cooking show and the woman that was cooking explained that she had held cooking classes.  (I think it was Georgia some place.)  Any way she said this one woman signed up for a series of classes.  She came to one class.  The instructor ran into her at a party of some sort and said...Oh, I have not seen you in class is everything alright?..The woman replied, oh, yes I just learned everything I needed to.  The instructor was amazed and asked what did she learn that was so important.  The woman said I just sauté onions and garlic and my husband thinks I have been cooking all day...
