Last Thursday night I was baking a cake for some company we had from Wisconsin. We had been having bad weather all week, and then on Thursday night our electricity went out for about three hours. I had the cake in the oven for only about 10 minutes when it went out - yes, I have an electric stove/oven. The electricity kept surging about 10 times or more, so we had to hurry and upplug many of our appliances and computers before they were damaged. We do have the surge protectors on most items fortunately, but not all. Anyway, after searching for candles, blankets to keep warm as it was quite cold, and keeping everyone happy, I had forgotten about the cake till the next morning. Needless to say, it got dumped and I opted in making some toll house cookies for them instead. I think they enjoyed the cookies more than they would have the cake anyway. All turned out well.

Try baking a cake when you heating element goes out on your electric oven. That happened to me before. I was getting to bake a birthday cake when my eldest son was 2 now 33 going on 34 & I couldn't figure out why my oven wasn't heating up. Then I found out that the heating element went out. So I called my brother to get me a new element to put in my stove. So all went well with the birthday cake.

Glad it turned out OK. Here in Southern Ca. was not a great week last week either with all the HEAVY rain, mudslides, evacuations and death tolls

I remember those problems. I have since switched to Propane for cooking and backup reserve heaters
I think that was one of the best ideas I ever had, and not near as expensive as anyone thought.
I am on disability pay, so I have little money compared to working, and I now stay warm and keep on making coffee and other cooking when the lights go out.
Sorry but I am glad to see I am not the only one this happened to.

Talk about frustration!! I've had the power go out while cooking dinner and ended up using the barbeque.

Enjoyed reading your story. I've had this happen to me once too while I was a cook at work. Not much I could do but wait for the power to kick back in.
