Well I have always loved the idea of baking so one year I was going the make this wonderful, yet simple pound cake for my family for Thanksgiving. You have to know me and that I don't always read all the way through a receipe before starting. So on this perticular occasion, I started mixing all the ingredients and think all was going well and in the end went to taste it and it tasted very badly. SO I started again, determined to make this "simple pound cake". Well long story short, I ended up making this same "very simple pound cake" 7 times and finely gave up! Come to find out each and EVERY time I was leaving out the SUGAR!!!!!!!! Needless to say, my daughter is the one that figured out was I was doing wrong - and she was only 8. This incident made me feel very stupid and I learned something that day (thank goodness) that you have to read the entire reciepe through and check off each ingredient one by one.
The End,

That is just too funny. I'm glad that you are finally able to enjoy your simple pound cake. You must laugh every time you make it though. Thanks for making my day!

I had a similar situation with a recipe. I was making Sweet Potato Pie for the first time. To save some time I used canned sweet potatoes. I mashed the sweet potatoes, added all the ingredients, and poured the lumpy mixture into the pie shell. I then read through the entire recipe to find out that I was to use a mixer to blend until smooth. I was so upset, but baked the pie as it was. I am happy to report that although the pie was not “pretty” it tasted very good. I even go a complement for a friend on what a great pie I made.

I do not think I would have made it past twice before I gave up & threw the recipe away!  LOL
